Matt Helmers is a Professor of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State University, and serves as a science advisor to the Water Rocks! team. He was instrumental in developing the award-winning Rock Your Watershed! computer game.
“I became a faculty member in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State University after completing my PhD from the University of Nebraska. My primary research interest is looking at the impacts of land management practices on water quality in Iowa.
Every summer, I like to take a long weekend to go fishing on Spirit Lake, my favorite lake in Iowa. When I am not working, I like to play with my kids, golf and watch Husker football. Oh, and keep my eye on what’s happening in the world of show cattle, a passion since my youth.”
