Featured Music Video: Dino Water

By astaudt

Dino Water TitleHere’s food (or maybe drink?) for thought: thanks to the water cycle, all the water we have now is exactly the same water that was around when the dinosaurs walked the earth. And now that fun fact is celebrated in a stylish animated music video: “Dino Water.”

“My approach for making 'Dino Water' was very simple,” says Liz Stott, director of the video. “I created video animation using a whiteboard, dry erase markers, and a camera to capture the hand-drawn images. Then the task was to sync them in quick succession so that they appeared to be moving to the timing of the music.”

“We return to old school animation with this production,” says Jacqueline Comito, director of the Water Rocks! program. “It’s a really engaging piece of work." With its cheerful animated dinos, its celebration of the water cycle, and its thought-provoking central idea, “Dino Water” is a great way to get students thinking about water as a natural resource worth taking good care of.

Dino Water is a 2015 Iowa Motion Picture Association Award Winner in the category of Student Production.

Water Rocks! has developed multiple enhanced learning activities to accompany "Dino Water," including Dino Memory Match Game, Cloud In A Bag, and Get It To The Spigot. Visit the Dino Water enhanced learning activities page today to check them out!
